Sensio Inc. is recalling about 12,300 Bella Pro Series and Cooks Steam Espresso Makers, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a news release on Thursday, Mar. 20.

The recall was issued due to a defect that can cause the brew cup handle to eject forcefully, shattering the glass carafe and posing burn and laceration hazards. The recalled machines include the Bella Pro Series Steam Espresso Maker (model No. 90195) and Cooks Steam Espresso Maker (model No. 22395).

The machines, which are black with stainless steel trim and stand about 12 inches high, were sold nationwide at JCPenney stores and online at BestBuy.com and JCPenney.com. They were available from August 2023 through January 2025 for $40 to $60.

Sensio has received 18 reports of the handles ejecting and eight cases involved burns or lacerations, according to the CPSC. Consumers are urged to stop using the machines immediately and contact Sensio for a refund.
